Cinq Pour le Weekend
I'm in France this week, so in the spirit of Gallic appreciation, this week's round-up is of some good things that happen to be French.
There's now a walkway in Paris named after Jane Birkin, and her daughters Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon dedicated it in a short and very sweet ceremony.
The appeal of Françoise Hardy's Le Temps de Amour is eternal...
...but when it comes to a younger generation of French singers, I'm listening to Zaho de Sagazan.
If you feel like blowing some cash on a very, very nice (and sustainable) wool sweater, you could do a lot worse than L'Envers. Although it's based in Spain, the company was founded by a Frenchwoman named Julie Charvet Robinne. Wearing one of her sweaters always makes me feel like I should be staring moodily into the sea from a windy bluff in Brittany.
Bref. One of my favorite French words, it's a way in saying "long story short." Even concision sounds better in French.
